Help At One of Our Events

Each year Citizen Advocacy of Chester County hosts three community events and we rely on people like you to make these events run smoothly and safely. Below you will find information about our Theater Event, Spaghetti Dinner and the Phoenixville Run including the roles played by our volunteers.

“A Play with a Purpose” Theater Event

Each spring, Citizen Advocacy of Chester County hosts its “A Play with a Purpose” Theater Event. This event, held at People’s Light in Malvern, PA, combines a sumptuous buffet-style dinner (including open bar) with both silent and live auctions. After dinner attendees adjourn to the theater for a “preview performance” of a live theater production.

The Theater Event is the culmination of months of planning by a committee of volunteers. Prior to the event, members of this committee handle everything from soliciting auction items to publicizing the event. On the day of the event, they help set up the banquet hall, display auction items, greet attendees, and distribute auction items to the winners.

Both individual and corporate sponsors play a crucial role in the Theater Event as they do for all of the events we host. Their generous support is vital to the success of all of our events. In recognition of that support, we consciously seek opportunities to properly acknowledge each by spreading the news of their generosity.

As with all of the events we host, the Theater Event provides an opportunity to spend time with friends, make new acquaintances and rekindle old friendships.

Spaghetti Dinner

After a hiatus forced upon us by the global pandemic, the always popular Spaghetti Dinner returned in 2023. This early fall event is a wonderful and beloved community event, featuring live music; raffle prizes; delicious food, including made-from-scratch organic spaghetti sauce and scrumptious homemade dessert! Ingredients are generously donated by local establishments, such as Kimberton Whole Foods and Foresta’s Country Meat Market.

Similar to the Theater Event, volunteers help plan the event, set up the banquet hall, display raffle prizes and greet attendees. Additionally, they have responsibility for the preparation and presentation of the food.

Citizen Advocacy’s annual Phoenixville 5k & 10k run is a family-oriented event for some yet a competitive race for others. It offers opportunities for runners of all ages and abilities.

Supporting this late fall event is a team of over 80 volunteers that work together to ensure that the registered runners have a great time while supporting our mission. These volunteers serve in various capacities including: soliciting sponsors, registering runners, serving as race marshals, handling race logistics, and distributing drinks and snacks.

Over the years the popularity of The Phoenixville Run has grown. In 2023, nearly 200 registered runners assembled in Reeves Park, Phoenixville to take part in either the 5K or the 10K races. Afterwards, many were awarded prizes, including cash prizes to top winners, with Phoenixville Mayor Peter Urscheler announcing the winners in each of several categories.

We are truly grateful for the efforts of our volunteers as well as the contributions to this community event made by numerous sponsors, donors and vendors.
